Angels infinite ore yields

Post by qwerter96 »

Can someone explain how angels infinite ore yields actually corresponds to ore/s? When I put a mine down I get a different value when I mouse over it than the value that appears when I click on it, than the value I get from actually counting how long it takes to get ore. Does covering more tiles with higher yields matter? Do higher drill speeds matter? (I'm trying to figure out if it's better to use bob's large area mining drill or the standard mining drills)

Stronger drills will play a critical role in getting more from infinite ores, but it does list that the resources are an estimate in the window on the right. The actual rate will constantly fluctuate.

Here's a tiny chart for a 5x5 infinite ore patch of Crotinnium at 20% yield

Drill Mk1 = 1.8/s
Drill Mk2 = 7.5/s
Drill Mk3 = 22.6/s
Drill Mk4 = 49/s
Drill Mk5 = 85.5/s

Large drills have a much lower speed and power, so it's usually more worthwhile to stack regular drills on top of each other to get the most out of a patch.

So the number of ore locations covered doesn't play any role, or is it just minimal? Will placing a drill on the edge of a patch have less ore/s than one that has every possible square covered by patch?

I did not test it but AFAIK you need only one infinite ore patch in drill area to get the same speed since drill only uses one ore square at once.

So technically could stack large area drills around the patch with normal ones as long as they graba bit of ore in their area.

Miners will pick a single tile at random per cycle and mine that, output the ore and then start the next cycle, pick a tile at random...So if the miner is placed on 10 tiles with ore, it will pick between these 10 tiles, if only placed on 1 tile with ore it will only mine that tile each cycle.
The amount displayed is all tiles with ores that are inside the range of the miner added up. This will also happen with infinite ores, which obviously is non-sense but that's how the game works.

So placing a miner on one tile of infinite ore is as effective as placing it on max number of tiles, since it only mines one tile per cycle. The only thing influencing this is the mining speed and the mining power, reducing the time a cycle takes. More cycles = more ores

Thank you so much for this explanation Angel! Is there any good way to estimate miner output per sec?

Hi,

Like the mods, very frustrating with bob's but I'm getting there. Was wondering if the infinite ore rate per second goes down over time like oil does and what's the minimum?

Cheers

The ore does go down per usage and the minimum is configurable (default is 20%)
