I thought of something that will save you having to create another asset.

Simply allow the car to accept armour modules. It can have grid-like board just like the player's armour and you can put armour modules like battery and shield. This will allow us to augment the car to be as defensive as the tank which players want.

Its grid can also be bigger, allowing for bigger modules that wouldn't fit in power armour. You could, for example, give us a "tank laser defensive". This may be as powerful as the laser turret but its power draw and size would make it impractical in power armour.
