Factorio crash on startup (Steam version)

I bought the game on steam and ever since I first downloaded it, it was crashing. I'm new to the game so I'm running no mods or texture packs. I've tried uninstalling and downloading it as well as verifying it over steam.
I'd be glad if you could help me and if you need any other information just tell me.

This is an error with your graphics card drivers or DirectX, make sure that both are up-to-date.

If that doesn't help then set the Steam launch options to --force-opengl as shown:

Hi, do you use any third party gaming software? For example some overlay like MSI Afterburner, or software for special hardware like keyboard or mouse with programmable lights, or maybe amBX? Or perhaps something that is not for gaming but changes picture on screen in some way?

What Daniel suggested is working workaround for the issue, but we had several similar reports recently, so I'd like to figure out what is causing this and possibly fix it in the game.
