How likely are changes to the core parts of a base?

Post by Xarovin »

I'd like to try get started on a megabase that can launch 1 rocket per minute (gave up on the last attempt), but the devs are doing such a good job with updating the game that I don't want to start now and have to change huge chunks of the base when the full release finally comes.

Things like nuclear power and dirty mining, I can live with not starting with, since that stuff would be separate from the main base, and it would be easy enough to add a separate place to process it.
However, core things like the science packs and resources needed for items would mess up the ratio of everything if it was to change, which would be a bit annoying if everything was calculated perfectly for that 1 rocket per minute mark.

I'm just wondering if the devs are happy for the most part about all the basic stuff, or if there are still plans for big overhauls of certain aspects? Also that includes the map generation, is it more or less finished for now (minus the desert thing I saw a while back), or is it likely to have a new algorithm for each update?

I don't mind waiting for the full release but it would be nice to get started now :)

They are just planning to overhaul science and combat

But you'll have a few months till that update will get an experimental (according to rumors)

Just stay with your version, if there is something coming that snafues your megabase

I don't see why changing the science packs would alter the setup of a rocket factory. And I don't think there was any suggestion of changing the existing recipes.

Good point haha, that didn't cross my mind, but yeah, it's the recipes I'm a bit worried about :P
So you think there's a good chance, that given all the raw materials, energy and research, that creating a rocket will be the same now as it will be once the game is finished?

If so I guess I'll try design the base in sandbox, I'll wait until the map generation is done before starting an actual world without mods though :)

AFAIK the only big overhauls that are getting changed are science and military. There might be a minor change to a recipe here or there but it should be relatively simple to fix. Might be worth leaving some extra room around each segment of production just in case.

If you want to do that, just build two separate bases, smaller one to supply you with basic needs and sicence and second as an actual rocket-base. That way, even if there are big changes, you don't need to start entire map anew and have relatively little to change.

you're forgetting power generation, but everyone has separate locations for all so I don't really think they'll influence the rocket production lines a lot
