Blocking behaviour on high-latency environments

Post by Anarelion »

I am not sure how to categorise this as this is not the usual experience for many people.

I am flying on a plane as I write and post this I have access to internet (it is horrible). But I find it awesome.

I can access the web, (all very slow) I could do many things except clicking on the Mods button in Factorio.

Factorio blocks every time it accesses the mods website to check for updates or download the new list. In fact, it blocks on every external access that is not related to multiplayer. Blocks are horrible and timeouts are long.

Progress bars, chances to cancel would be awesome. I know I am in a bad environment. Tools to work around it would help a lot :)

Thanks developers. Consider this as just a comment. This is as far as I can go from an angry statement. I am a computer engineer kind of person, so I understand the awesome work you are doing.

700+ hours on steam.

What version are you using?
What do you mean by "it blocks"?
Please upload the log-file after the issue occurred.

We don't currently support airplane-level latency :) You'll need to use a better connection in the mean time.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
