Research Speeds

Okay. I got Factorio. I was playing New Hope, the first level. And the research is slow! Like really slow.

Is there any way to boost my research speed? Does multiple labs give any bonus to research speed? It's frustratingly slow at the moment.

There is a research which improves research speed I believe, other than that, I think there's a point in it being slow.

You usualy have more laboratories, like 5 or 10 in this level, it goes quite fast that way.

I didn't say there wasn't a point, just that it was frustrating. My factory is basically locked up due to my assembly lines being overstocked, apart from an occasional lurch to life every few minutes when the creepers attack and my turrets need to restock their ammo. I want the rocket launcher at least before I go after the computer, and it is just taking so much time.
