[0.13.20] Normal frequency for resources not so normal?

Post by grouchysmurf »

Playing "almost" vannila game -- the only mods I have are RSO, FARL and Blueprint String. The RSO was disabled when I started the game and I didn't turn it on again.

This is the map:

Image

All resources, except oil, are set to normal frequency/very small/very rich. Oil has been set to big, as far as I recall, with the same frequency. Biters are set to normal/medium.

For my - unexperienced, mind you - eyes the above does not look like a map generated according to that settings. It's more like a RSO world with frequent-ish biters. Do note, please, that in such vast area, I had three iron ore patches, including starting one. One of them I needed to connect with railway - it was that far. Same pertains to copper. But then again oil - in abundance.

Question is whether RSO even when disabled interfere somehow with world generator? Does the game cache map settings even after restart (I noticed that when I restart a freshly generated map that I don't like, new world looks strangely similar - if old world had forests, new one would also have forests, water would be of the same size)?

Your opinion?

Looks strange :D

Almost like RSO from before oil well fix where it would stamp tons of oil wells at once.

Did you have RSO enabled at any given point on this map and/or started the map after disabling RSO without game restart?

I am 100% positive this one is without RSO. I disabled RSO before the start and it "rebooted" factorio but it was a soft reboot, mind you, I didn't close the game and started it over, it was just like that when you toggle on/off a mod and it a restarts the game by itself, so it was like that.

I believe I have most recent version of RSO - installed it a mere week ago or so. The bug you mentioned, is it something recent and unfixed or something that has been patched in past versions?

The bug is quite old and fixed few months ago or even more. Actuall if you set oil to big then this map is RSO generated.
Also did you change RSO config - there is a switch there that enables vanilla biters which would give map like this.

Not sure what else can be done - if you restart the same map will you get identical result?

I deleted the mod, RSO in particular, and restarted the game - the resources, when set to normal, are still too scarce for my liking but I guess that's how worlds are generated.
