When I host a multiplayer session, anyone who tries to join freezes the server. At this point, the map download progress bar for the user who is trying to join appears briefly, but disappears almost instantaneously. On my hosting end, the freeze on the server persists, and neither side progresses. If I close the server, the connecting user receives an error message regarding the server being unresponsive. If the connecting user quits, the server then brings up a quick loading bar error about the user being unresponsive and unfreezes.

I definitely portforwarded correctly, as I deliberately did so incorrectly to check the actual server-user connection, and the user couldn't find the server if the port or protocol were incorrect.

are you using 0.13 or 0.14?

Are you using any mods?

I had a weird issue just last night, 0.14.2, where the loading bar popped up and the user never downloaded the map. He was stuck at "waiting for the server to save map" according to the log file.

Fixed it by walking around and expanding the map. My guess is that there was nothing to download so the map-join logic broke.

I'm not using any mods except for the Base mod, required for the game to function.

The loading bar doesn't pop up at all, and both users are stuck until one exits. Expanding the map doesn't work at all - I tried to let another user join a very developed server and the same problem arose.

I've used both the stable and the newest experimental releases, and the issue persists for both.

What do the log files say? Somewhere near the bottom it should talk about clients switching from one game-state to another. It sounds like they're getting stuck in a particular state (I have no idea how factorio works).

If you could put all this information together it might be enough for a bug report.
