You make a "Mother-roboport" or something of the kind. (Make it expensive! 10 roboports + 1000 blue chips and +1000 alien eggs or something!)
When you open this mother-roboport you also get a little GUI somewhere and you can request either "Logistic bots" or "Construction bots" and then how many (like in a requester chest), and then bots would dock into the mother roboport, taking no new orders (or just not allow them to fly out) until you pick them out or press the "release bots" button in the gui.
My envisioned priority for bot picking up would be: Bots already docked -> bots about to dock -> bots about to go pick something up -> bots with cargo (maybe some kind of specific mother-roboport-stash could be added where bots leave stuff before docking if they have cargo)
Why? It's super annoying to find the idle bots to pick them up. Searching manually over thousands of roboports is not an option. The bots can also be spread out so let's say you have 1000 idle logistic robots, spread out on let's say 800 roboports, so they each have like maybe 1-5 bots in them. That's a lot of manual work in a game that's supposed to be about automation!
Some general settings would be cool too:
- Make bots dock in mother roboport: (Force, Always, Prefered, Normal, Never)
Force: they are forced to dock there as soon as they are in range
Always: if they go there to charge, they automatically dock
Prefered: If any bot is idle, they go to the mother roboport
Normal: acts just like a normal roboport (but with the summon bots buttons ofc)
Never: they never dock here (unless summoned)
Setting for summon buttons:
Limit summoning to: (Docked only, docked + about to dock, docked + about to dock + bots with orders, all)
Just an idea I would really like to put in to work. Don't be afraid to improve on it
