i thing puting a weather hazard would be interresting example its day but your solar panels arnt getting optimal power the reason clouds blocking the sunlight making power production very slow but still making power.

another example would be a storm that riles up the aliens and makes them more hostile through it but after the storm they wont attack for a little while (the storm would happen rarely but would happen around mid-game but almost never happens early game but the longer you play the more chance that the storm would happen)

rain storms and lightning storms.
rain would affect fast machines such as the fast belts and inserters making them rust and slow down and would need to be cleaned or coated with a anti rust spray.

lightning
would begin striking ground and the more pollution you make would increase the power of the lightning to begin with it would strike power lines and deactivate them for a set time based on the storms power when the lightning gets stronger they will begin to destroy the basic power lines and slightly damage other machines you make for example transport belts drills furnaces Etc and once they get stronger again due to pollution they would begin striking more and be able to destroy the medium power lines and damage machines more their would be something you could make like a lightning rods that would harness the power of the lightning for power means or just to protect machines
