Totally new to Factorio and holy crap, my face has been glued for 2 days straight now. I've more or less just splunked thru the whole map, made a mess of everything and just all around learning what i can. What i'm really lacking atm though is a little direction. As for moving forward, i want to go the route of having micro factories, mass storage systems and what not. Not sure the best way to explain it but here goes.
Right now ive got my railway loop hitting up all my ore's. Due to bob's mods, most can't be smelted on the spot and so i'm having almost all the different ores mined then dumped right into storage. Next on my list is to get the train setup to automatically pickup every 20 mins or so from all the spots on the loop. Ores and liquids. When at the the main complex, i want all the ores moved to main storage.
Next is basic processing. Some just get smelted, others thanks to that bastard Bob, go thru a nightmare process to get plates (i really actually like it tho, makes things crazy technical). For the more complicated process methods for ores like titanium and what not, i want smaller micro factories setup that are for the most part separate from anything else, they are just puling raw materials from storage and then moving finished products back into storage.
Thats essentially what i'm after for now. I obviously know there's better ways, but this will allow me to learn a lot more without getting too confused and getting too side tracked. I've never played a game that got me so side tracked before. Spent years playing modded MC and never got side tracked like i do with Factorio. It's awesome!!.
Now, more specifially, can anyone point me to some guides for info regarding how to/best method to move materials from storage to machines? I'm assuming robots, i'm just not sure of a good guide.
Anyway, I'd appreciate any input on my current situatuation. Thanks.
Need some advice on moving forward!

Totally new and jumps into Bob's Mods! I like it (same thing I did)
Three ways really to move items... Belts, Bots, Trains. You know about trains, With Bob's mod later stage bots Mk4's with all speed/cargo research are viable for moving lots of stuff really fast. And belts, Either Spaghetti (It gets from point A to point B even if it has to go around C, under D and weave through F. Or a nice bus design Where it leaves your perfectly lined up smelters in rows upon rows of goodies that you branch of in sections as they are needed.
As to guides well there are lots of videos on youtube but the fun is managing your logistics your way!
I typically use belts for my hi-throughput starting factories (Iron, Copper, Tin,) all the way up through the final circuit boards then use bots for some of the later bob's ores as you really don't need millions of titanium or tungsten or aluminum. Even though a million IS a nice round number! Some people think that bots take a lot of fun out of the game though, but at the same time there are people that think belts are boring.
As to the sidetracked thing.... happens to me all the time. I need to upgrade my steam engines...... oh I need to get titanium going for that ....... Ohh now biters are attacking!!!!!! Just 5 more minutes....... 4 hours later I still have MK1 steam engines.......
