"Solaris" achievement description

Post by SyncViews »

Solaris
Produce more than 10 MJ energy per hour without the usage of Steam engine.
To produce 10MJ of electricity in one hour (60*60, 3600 seconds) would only require just above 2777W of continuous generation for that hour (a watt is a joule per second). That is a pretty small amount of energy even in the real world. The current Factorio solar panel has a peak output of 60kW, taking less than 3 minutes to produce 10MJ with a single solar panel.

Was maybe megawatt hours (1 MWh = 3600 MJ) or another unit intended?

Hello,

0.13 is not released yet so nobody besides the developers know whats up with the achivements and they could change until release.

It's also possible, that there are different stages for this achievement like wood, coal, stone, iron, copper with bigger values to achieve.

Let's discuss again if all can experiment with them.
I'm as much excited as you before the new version.

Yes, I believe the achievement is asking you to produce 10 MWh in 1 hour.

A better way to phrase it is, "Average more than 10 MW power for an hour without the usage of Steam engine."

You could also say, "Produce more than 10 MW power for a hour without the usage of Steam engine." That might be easier to understand, even if it is not really counted that way.
