For my next tasks I'd like to play more with the map, what can be seen, and how some things appear on it. I'll make multiple posts to keep things organized. I hope that is correct practice.
I have set things up so that each play gets their own force. I'd like players to be able to work together based on their own settings, treating other players as "allies."
In testing, my friend pointed out that it seemed really strange that my buildings constantly appeared as red to him on the map. I understand completely why my buildings are red (not the same force), but his point about wanting different forces to appear as different colors was very valid.
So my questions are manifold.
1) Is it possible, in some way, to control what color a force is drawn as on the map during charting?
2) Is it possible to hook into charting, to draw custom elements as the charting is carried out?
3) Is it possible to modify the charted data after a sector has been charted?
4) Is it possible to render non-static elements on the map that are not stored in the charting information?
I have done some research in the first three and come up empty, though I only just thought of the last one now, so I will do my research there now.

EDIT: Haven't been able to find any information on playing with the map rendering other than changing the colors of things in the prototypes. Still don't know how the map is rendered or how the elements rendered on top (vehicles and players) are done, nor if we can directly influence that. I'm afraid my research isn't turning anything useful up.
Thanks for any help,
Cheers!
