I would like to make sure I understand the update process via steam properly.
After having initially installed, I ended up with a recent version of factorio (but not the latest), which was 0.12.29. Looking into the properties / beta section, I can select the newer releases up to 0.12.33.
Now to my actual question: will the version that is automatically pushed to steam clients be updated after the subsequent releases have been validated, or do I have to manually opt for consuming newer releases each time from now on?
Just to clarify: I do understand how I could update to a newer release / how to use steam. I just would like to understand the intended delivery process.
thanks,

Re: Steam updates
By choosing experimental you will always get the latest available version. Without beta participation you will only get an update when a new stable version is available.dr1fter wrote:Now to my actual question: will the version that is automatically pushed to steam clients be updated after the subsequent releases have been validated, or do I have to manually opt for consuming newer releases each time from now on?
Re: Steam updates
As for the individual versions, there will be all experimental versions available, up to the latest stable, for example now, 12.29 is stable, 12.33 is the latest experimental and 29-33 are available to download, either from Steam or from the website.
Re: Steam updates
makes sense - thanks for explaining. Guess I'll stick with the stable releases
