in-game updates crash game and fail to update

Hello,
Everytime Factorio does an update it tries to restart, glitches and crashes (black screen, mouse only then pressing a key shows a corrupted video screen). So every time I start the game I get the same updates every time and can never update.

I've resorted to downloading the latest version from the website (which is much quicker and does give a load of SSL errors at random like the in-game download does), however I can't find how to download the scenerio pack updates or disable automatic restarts.

Can anyone help?

would you please provide your error log ?
Under Windows, it's in %APPDATA%\Factorio. It usually contains useful informations for diagnosing.

Edit : NAme of the file is factorio-current.log

Right, I've found the bug in the game updater. Windows tries to show a administrator confirmation dialog and Factorio mustn't be able to handle the video switch.

Change game to windowed mode and you can do updates, then switch back.

But either way, that's a bug and for some reason downloading the actual game update is three times as quick as in game and you don't get any annoying random SSL connection errors part-way through downloading.
