Installing Mods with Steam?

Post by Kryptos »

So, this is probably pretty basic, but I don't use steam often. How do I install factorio mods in the steam release? I'm having trouble finding the "mods" folder. Matter of fact, I'm having difficulty finding the "Appdata" folder in my C:/Users. I read somewhere that this was how to do it.

Run a Windows-Command by [Win]+[R]. Type %appdata% and hit [Enter]. A new window should open in C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming. Find the "Factorio\mods" folder, that's the one you are looking for. Copy all mods in there.

Thank ye Kindly.

Followup. I've got a save that I started in 12.21, according to the map version, that I transferred into the 12.24 steam install, with mods loaded. I'm assuming there is an automatic loss in backwards compatibility, but there was an odd message about map replay/reload popping up. Does this apply only to the replay map button in menu, or does it affect gameplay at all?

It only applys to the replay.
The game embarks a replay feature that allows you to ... replay your game. But only works if you don't change version meanwhile :).
