Game freezes after a short time of running

As the title says, it freezes after running after a couple minutes. Does it regardless of what update I'm on, and what i'm doing in the game. Even froze the same way on the changelog screen.
Basically what it seems like it's doing, is freezing, but is still running. I can hear everything and even click on buttons, but it's like the visual of the game is frozen like someone put a screenshot over it.
It has been like this for months now and I've been really wanting to get back into it but can't cause of this problem.
Tried uninstalling, running admin, running in different compatibility modes, different updates, and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated!

Had the same problem with my game for a time.
I found out my EVGA Precision kicked in a few seconds after i started factorio and froze the image of the game (also some other games).
Maybe you are using some kind of similar software like EVGA Precision / MSI Afterburner etc. and could try to turn it off.

Also using evga precision, will try it once I get a chance. Odd though if that's what's causing it
