[0.7.5] Trains runs red signal

I'm getting a lot of train wrecks in my 0.7.5 playthough.
I'm pretty sure it's all signaled correctly since I've used similar setups in the past and haven't had the issue. The train just flat ignores the red signal and runs right through like a maniac! :lol:

The wrecks seem to always happen at my main station; a train is offloading and another one approaches and occasionally runs through the red light, hitting the stationary train. I've replaced/repositioned the signals and even recreated the locomotives but the collisions just keep happening. Maybe something wrong with the layout somehow?

Arg.. Can't upload save. Blasted 3mb limit. Save files have gotten a lot bigger the last few versions huh?

Ok, here's the save. When you load it, just stand there and watch the signals to the left. After about 5 seconds, they'll all turn yellow and the train collision will occur.

I'm having some trouble downloading your file from there. The download either doesn't start at all, or it comes in corrupted. I tried Chrome, IE and FF. Could you maybe upload it to another filehost?

Managed to download and test your savegame. It tok a lot more than five seconds for crash to happen. But it is true that prior the crash all the singnals turned yelow.
Now I don't completly understand how signals in factorio works but in real life the yelow signal always marks that next signal is red so train should start slowing down so it could safetly stop at red signal.

Also when quickly checking your rail setup I noticed that one signal actually ignores the placment of another signal and therefore controlls rail section from both of them.

Mouse cursor is on signal just before the rail crossection. Marked signal is where influence of the signal on which the mouse cursor is should end.

The old link downloaded fine for me though. If you run into trouble with websites regularly, you might want to do a tracert and ask your ISP to fix the issue. They probably have a routing issue in their system (or downstream) somewhere.

It didn't destroy the carriage but the impact took 50% of its health. Might have been a few minutes before it got hit again and was finally destroyed.

I saw that signal too after I posted. It's strange; even after removing the tracks and signals and replacing it all, that block kept behaving like that. It's so far ahead of the problem spot that it shouldn't matter but I don't know.. Might be related somehow.?

1. Signal before station is too close. Thats why you have crash. Put that signal 1-2 segments on left (no more crash in station).
2. In crossroads also you have them too close. On the screen on top the signal marked by cursor move one segment on right. That signal marked by red circle more few segments up.

In that way i eliminated train collisions.

Thank you for the tips, they seem to help. I'm not getting collisions as often but I'm still losing trains there pretty frequently.
It's a hard issue to pin down since it's so sporadic. 95% of the time the trains stop as expected and wait. Then 5% of the time they just run it and wreck.

Hello, thx for the report.
I have the save and I will take a look at it, we had similar problem in 0.7.4 that was fixed for 0.7.5, but there is probably some other problem of this kind.

Hey, I don't know if it'll be helpful or not but I did notice that the troublesome trains always have a weird symptom before they wreck; they seem to be reserving several blocks ahead of them as they're traveling down the track (5 or 6 yellow signals ahead of the train as it moves). The (normal?) trains that only reserve 1 block ahead (one yellow light ahead of their current signal block) never wreck.
Let me know if I can provide any more information that might be helpful.

Thanks for the save. We made some changes and it works fine now. The signal logic is quite complicated so any changes are a potential danger for different problems, but we will see that in 0.8.0:)
