I would like to be able to equally distribute the contents of my cursor into several different containers quickly.
E.G. I have some coal I'd like to put into 5 different boilers. Currently I have to split up the stacks before I place them. I'd like to be able to do this without having to split them up by using a command like: ( Shift-Mouse Down, Drag, Mouse Up )

Why don't you built a belt, inserters and a chest? Put 5 inserters before the boilers, put a belt before it, put the chest at the beginning of the belt plus an inserter, then put the coal into it and let the game do the rest...
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Re: [Suggestion] Smart-Split Item Distribution
Splitting stacks also becomes awkward because your inventory auto-stacks everything to maxstack. splitting between 4 is still doable though because you split in half, place in first boiler, split that stack, place that in second, then split what's left in your inventory between 3 and 4.
but... as it stands now, Yeah, either you should use a belt and inserters, or just fill the first boiler first, because the first boiler operates at full power before the others even turn on.
