TL;DR
Equipment module (i.e. for power armour or vehicle equipment grids) that increase's the entity's view range (or, for tanks, gives them one in the first place). What?
An item of equipment, 2x2 in size, which consumes some amount of electricity and gives the entity in question +1 chunk of permanent radar view range, e.g. from 3x3 to 5x5.In the case of tanks, which do not have any inherent radar by default, the first radar gives them a 1.5x1.5 chunk view range (i.e. they show the chunk they are currently in, plus any adjacent chunk if they are within 8 tiles of the border); a second expands it to 3x3, and more work as normal.
Why?
We have equipment options to move faster, have more HP, see better at night, and to carry more stuff. Why not one to see father out? Also, thanks to the 'Drive remotely' option, a tank with a roboport makes for an excellent early-game 'poor mans spidertron' to fix problems or expand the base while the player is elsewhere, such as on another planet. However, it suffers from the fact that it is blind outside of your base's own radar coverage. This is especially a problem on Fulgora, where your base (and thus the site of any potential problems or expansions) is often spread across multiple disconnected islands, and you don't have the option of just loading up a stack of large power poles and a stack of radars and expanding coverage as you go. Allowing the tank to be upgraded with even a limited view radius of its own would be a great boon.
