TL;DR
Enable circuit wire on train tracks to allow signals between distinct areas of the factory or robot networksWhat?
Allow circuit wire to connect to a train segment, so that you can run circuit wire along a train track to connect distant areas of a base. There does not need to be any interaction with the train track segment, however it could act to carry the signal in the same way power poles do.Why?
Currently, if you have areas of the factory that are deliberately separated (in terms of robot networks and power) there is no way to transfer information through a circuit wire between them. Examples are on Fulgora or Aquilo where islands are connected by elevated trains but not power. Currently you cannot get a signal between them, and I've had use cases where I'd like to control behaviour of one island based on conditions of another island. As power poles can carry a circuit wire and so can be used to connect remote areas of a factorio, I don't see a design reason to deliberately not allow train tracks to carry them? Also they do implicitly carry a signal because stations can communicate with trains over great distances to deal with information like station train limits etc. So allowing circuit wire to connect distant areas seems like a natural extension of this that could allow some more interesting/complex use cases for distant production / supply / resupply cases etc.
Thanks!
