TL;DR
I want to tell a space platform to never drop all of an item - e.g. nuclear fuel cells - to a planet, and to always reserve some of those fuel cells for itself. What?
Even if a platform is serving planet requests, it would be very useful if there was a simple & intuitive way to explicitly tell the platform "always keep at least X of [item]". For now I think I can work around this by over-requesting the logistic group on the platform, and being careful with its schedule, but I think it would be a lot cleaner and more user-friendly if there was a way to explicitly reserve items on a platform for itself. Why?
This is what happened:- I was working out how to get to Aquillo. I realised that solar was no good, so I gave nuclear a try and to my surprise, there was more than enough ice available (to make water to make steam to make electricity).
- I built a platform, loaded it up and went to Aquillo, via Gleba.
- Gleba has a request for nuclear fuel cells. My platform dutifully dropped them, then continued on to Aquillo, without me realising that the platform had dropped ALL of the fuel cells.
- There was enough residual heat + steam for the platform to get to Aquillo. I dropped to Aquillo and started exploring and dropping items down, when I suddenly noticed that there was no fuel. Which meant that my platform would run out of power and be destroyed.
- Fortunately I save my game a lot, so I ultimately only lost 10-15 minutes. But this was still extremely annoying (and funny)!
