Generating a chartbundle / Galaxy of Fame for local use

Post by nixxquality »

I've been hosting a multiplayer game for a few days now while collecting hourly saves for timelapsing purposes. I've been considering what kind of visualization to use for them, and I looked in my data folder to find the chartbundle for my first run.

It's a nice low-size way to visualize a base, and now I'm wondering if there's a way to make the game generate a chart bundle / Galaxy of Fame zip locally. The map viewer itself could probably be ripped from the Galaxy of Fame page itself, but I looked through the API docs and the list of commands with no luck.

I've considered some other options:
L0laapk3's FactorioMaps Timelapse is not supported in Factorio 2.0.
veger2002's Timelapse Base Edition (TLBE) - just including this because I feel it might be brought up. I didn't want any runtime cost for timelapsing, and this would probably not work well in multiplayer.
Palats' mapshot - I've used this before but it has a compatibility issue with the Factorio World mod we're using that creates unseemly blotches on ungenerated chunks. It also creates absolutely massive amounts of data, the last map I made with this was 24 gigabytes. Multiply that by 99 autosaves (to date) and you have way too much data :)

Therefore, I believe a collection of chartbundles would be the best option. They're cheap on filesize and cheap to render. They also cleanly cut off ungenerated chunks.
