Factorio version: 2.043, operating system: macOS Sequoia 15.4, laptop: M3 Pro 18.
Graphics settings are provided in the screenshot. After the release of Space Age and subsequent updates (as we remember, there were graphics issues on MacBook), I played without any problems—in native screen resolution with maxed-out graphics settings. I didn’t play Factorio for the last two weeks of March, but on April 1st, I updated to version 2.043 and installed Bob’s Mods. That’s when I noticed strange lags and screen stuttering—interestingly, without any FPS/UPS drops.
The issue manifests as noticeable jerks when moving the character, especially near trees or, for example, drills. I checked old Space Age saves—the effect persists: screen stuttering occurs, but without FPS drops. The same happens on new maps in 2.0, etc.
Through trial and error, I found that the problem is related to vertical synchronization (VSync). If I disable it, graphical artifacts completely disappear. I’ve attached screenshots with VSync enabled and disabled. The "freezing" or stuttering effect is especially noticeable when moving the character past buildings or inside a factory. When zooming the camera all the way down, peculiar "screen tearing" becomes visible.
The bug is clearly not game-breaking—I’m now playing fine with VSync disabled. But in case anyone else has encountered the same issue and knows a workaround? Or maybe someone with OCD who’s driven crazy by such lags. I searched through forums but didn’t find similar reports.
Given that everything worked perfectly before, even with VSync enabled, perhaps the developers will take note. If needed, I can record a screen-capture video.
