[2.0.43] Inserters take from gaps and not waggons after a curve

What did you do?
Tried out a new station layout for long bends, with waggons both sides of a U turn, and inserters taking from waggons (see screenshot).

What happened?
Inserters placed alongside the waggons take items from the waggons. On the left (where the station is) there are six functional inserters per waggon, and one non-functional one in each waggon gap. On the right, there are still 6 functional to one non-functional but it is not visually lined up with the gap or the waggon mouseover highlight.

What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
Non-functional inserter lined up with gap. i.e. the inactive inserter should be the one 1-2 tiles higher up.

Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Happens reliably on loading this save, not tried rebuilding on another map. Note save is space age sandbox but no mods.

Thanks for the report however we will not be changing this. You can enable “show collision rectangles” to see where the wagons actually are and if they’re within the area the inserter will try to interact with.
