Not automatically subscribed to new topics?

Is there any particular reason why one isn't automatically subscribed to a new topic that one creates? I couldn't find a setting to do that, either.

Does User Control Panel -> Board Preferences -> Edit posting defaults -> Notify me upon replies by default do what you want?

I don't know. I'll try it and post here again (as to whether it has the same effect as being subscribed to a thread). Thanks for the suggestion!

It looks like this setting does exactly what I wanted: it automatically subscribes the user when they post a new topic. Thanks for the help!

(The board software should be more consistent with its language... "notify the user" = "subscribe")

The problem with that setting it subcribes whenever you reply, there's no setting for subscribing on topic creation only.
