Migrate achievements from standalone copy to Steam

I friend of mine recently went from using the a standalone copy of Factorio to the Steam version, but I can't find a way for achievements to transfer. I basically just redirected the write-data directory to what it was before, but from what I can tell the Steam version ignores the achievements.dat file. Is that correct? Not a big deal if he has to get them all again, I don't think he had any super difficult/tedious ones.
