Unable to select and area on Mac.

Hi,

I am unable to select an area by left click and dragging my mouse.
I have checked the game key bindings, and there is not even a key binding for "select area" present in the menu.
The only select option viable is "Select for blueprint". This is set for Shift + Left click, but using this, does nothing.
Click and drag works fine on any other application.

Does anybody have any ideas how this can be solved?
I have come to a point where continuing the game is only fun if I get this option to work, for various obvious reasons.

Help is much appreciated!

What are you expecting to do with the area once you have selected it? Creating a blueprint is the only thing for which area selection really makes sense in Factorio, and it sounds like you may not have got far enough into the game to do that.
