This is Yet Another thread requesting that quality train wagons have increased inventory capacity.
However, every other topic on this seems to get mired down by the claim that upgrade-planning wagons would break existing builds that depend on the max capacity. There is a simple solution that avoids this: when upgrading a wagon, automatically set the wagon's slot filter to its original max capacity. That way, automatic upgrades wouldn't break anything, and the larger capacity would be completely opt-in by removing the slot limit. This seems like it would be completely technically feasible to me.
So, this thread is asking:
1. Is there any OTHER reason not to increase inventory for quality cargo wagons? Many posts have pointed out that it seems very warranted, balance-wise.
2. Am I missing any other reason why this isn't feasible or doesn't completely negate the only problem quality wagons introduce?
Quality wagons do NOT need to break designs

They added it as a modding option, rather than a vanilla feature. Almost a week ago.Re: Quality wagons do NOT need to break designs
Yes, but as far as I can see, there's literally no downside to enabling it in vanilla too with this approach. The design-breakages are the only major reason I've seen given not to do this, which this bypasses. The worst I can see is that it makes the lack of upgrades to fluid wagons even more noticeable, but that's not an actual gameplay downside.
