TL;DR
I would like a way to deconstruct a tile type (say, landfill), even when it's been covered over by another tile type on top of it (say, concrete), without removing that same covering from other underlying tile types (such as real ground). What?
Specifically, I'd like there to be a checkbox or perhaps another "mode" in the menu on the deconstruction planner's "tiles" tab which turns on the deconstruction of the selected tile types even when they are underneath another tile, selecting the covering tile for deconstruction as well in that case. Why?
Once you cover over landfill with concrete, it becomes quite annoying to remove only the landfill while leaving normal ground still concreted.Recently, I converted my base from a 50 tile roboport grid to a 48 tile roboport grid, for better chunk alignment, among other things. When I was removing the old grid, I also wanted to remove the landfill and concrete that were under the old roboports and power poles, but I didn't want to remove the concrete that was on actual land. And I wanted to do this on a rather large area. Something like 1700 roboports worth.
The best way I could find to do this was to make a deconstruction planner that removed both concrete and landfill, then quickly swipe it twice over the area and quickly follow that up by placing concrete tiles over the area again. Some of the concrete would get picked up in the meantime and need to be re-placed, but it did at least actually catch all the landfill. There should definitely be a better solution than that.
