[2.0.28] The scenario level caused a non-recoverable error when loading map.

Post by FuzzyBug57 »

Since the major update I have not been able to load my main map. When I try, I get the Loading Map, Running entity setup, and Checking consistency progress bars one after the other. And then I get a “Notice” with the following information:
“The scenario level caused a non-recoverable error. Please report this error to the scenario author. Error while running event level::on_configuration_changed __level__/freeplay.lua:197: attempt to index global 'global' (a nil value) stack traceback: __level__/freeplay.lua:197: in function 'on_configuration_changed' __core__/lualib/event_handler.lua:87: in function <__core__/lualib/event_handler.lua:84>”
The only thing unusual about this map is it is quite old and a bit large, and at one point a few years ago I had to do some digital gymnastics to get around the limitation that used to prevent a map from running for more than about 20,000 hours. I have attached the most recent log file and the map file is available at:

If you converted save file into a scenario then you took responsibility of maintaining scripting of that scenario copy and save file started from that scenario will not get script updated from base game. I will consider this a duplicate of 119410 where you will find more details.

Hey Boskid, Thanks for the explanation. I had no idea I ever created a scenario, or even what that is, so maintaining the scripting for it is not a skill I want to learn right now, so I decided I'll just start a new map. FYI, as a retired Engineer who spent many years consulting for manufacturing companies in the real world, I LOVE this game. If it is not being used in college courses teaching manufacturing it should be! So many real world manufacturing challenges are brought to the surface quickly as the player works through the game. Great job on the major update too, I am enjoying the many enhancements. Best Wishes for 2025. JH
