Space age, Gleba pentapods and rails

Post by Paul17041993 »

Are overhead rails supposed to be instantly destroyable by pentapod attacks without the rail supports taking any damage?
I've been having a lot of trouble lately with the pentapod attacks on one particular farm where I end up having to completely change the rail route into a reverse loop on the opposite side, since I can nolonger use the overhead route as the rails will constantly get destroyed, which would then require the use of a fully linked logistic network alongside the train, which would then of course make the rail rather pointless entirely.

The defences consist of tesla, rocket and laser turrets all configured to prefer their suitable targets, and both strafer and thumpers get killed within the first second of being in range, but despite this the rails and also some rocket turrets will take damage or be destroyed after the pentapods are all already dead, either via delayed projectiles from the strafers or some form of delayed AOE effect from the thumpers.

Both of these mechanics are difficult to work out how they actually work and how you're even supposed to defend against, and what entities are immune and what are not, for example rail supports and long distance wire poles seem to be immune, but the rails atop of the supports are not? is this inherently a very special case that high quality turrets and rail are needed specifically so that they have enough HP to survive the attack to be repaired?
