I couldn't find another place for this so I put it here.
It is accursed. One lab is productivity. The other, quality. I came across this concept in a lively discussion on the subject. I felt it could not survive the seriousness of the matter - no one proposed this insanity, although I think I mentioned one of its components or two. Everyone else (including me) involved in the conversation should be able to look at the thing and just go... "Coffee this is the image of insanity" and have a good long laugh at my own derangement.
Sort into two labs doubles productivity on legendary science only, which comes through the filtering lines at some point. While shorting all other lines of the 2x productivity bonus. This massively decreases its overall speed by treating all research except legendary as though it where valueless. edit: Except that the modules of that station are quality. So scaled to match input, they still receive a bonus from... maybe the station's point of view

But at the same time, like a corpse it intrigued me with the idea of giving it some life. As I worked it I was inspired by a character who might use it due to their faults, one Richard Sanchez. Beacon placement selection was critical. Applying speed reduces overall quality by meaningless numbers while ballooning power. But ultimately, environment chips kill speed while not reducing the energy impact (\o/ sorry trees, pollution isn't a part of a horizontal scaling argument). And the worst option is to mix the two regimes by my estimate so that's what I did.
I am staring at the yellow eyes of Frankenstein's monster.
I think twelve lines is twelves sciences so it can work.
