Was going through the new add-on with a friend and after Aquila realized that it's hard to continue.
My (I host) fps 30-55, within the normal (macbook pro m1), he has a top comp: synchronization when connecting about 20-30 min, and fps 5-30. and it is understandably that to play terribly uncomfortable.
We have mid bases on each planet.
I thought it would become easier if you disable bites, but it didn't affect much. maybe because of the mobs on Gleba, they spawn in huge numbers, but I haven't found a mod to check.
Please help, maybe someone knows how to return playability.
How to play mid and late game in multiplayer?
Re: How to play mid and late game in multiplayer?
I wish I had some kind of useful advice, but I do not. I am doing multiplayer on a fully end game map with my son and we have none of the issues you are describing. The machine I am hosting on isn't even all that powerful. It has an i5 CPU, 1070 graphics card, and 32GB of RAM.

Re: How to play mid and late game in multiplayer?
"synchronization when connecting about 20-30 min" hints that problem is not in CPU/RAM but in network connection. Host should have connection with decent upload speed and some providers can seriously limit it.
Re: How to play mid and late game in multiplayer?
In the past with such problems I have paused the game while someone is connecting to my server to allow them to catch up quickly. Not doing so can mean they basically never catch up and eventually drop.
I believe they added an auto-pause when connecting option in Factorio 2. It may be worth trying that as that will generally hugely speed up the catch up phase.
As for underlying cause/fix - not sure. Eventually bases seem to get too big for multiplayer even over a fast LAN which is to be expected. Mods can make the situation a lot worse (not all of course).
I have noticed a huge difference in game viability (catch up time, drop/desync likelyhood) between local 1Gbps LAN connected and being on the other end of a 100Mbps up/1Gbps down connection to the same ISP in the same country (~10-15ms latency).

Does sound like a network or hardware problem. I am doing multiplayer with a friend for the whole playthrough and we have been doing fine after hundreds of hours. Hosting on a medium grade Azure container instance.

It isnt the time, it is what gets built.waterBear wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 3:07 pm Does sound like a network or hardware problem. I am doing multiplayer with a friend for the whole playthrough and we have been doing fine after hundreds of hours. Hosting on a medium grade Azure container instance.

I thought it would be assumed that after that much time, things got built.Khazul wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 3:13 pmIt isnt the time, it is what gets built.waterBear wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 3:07 pm Does sound like a network or hardware problem.
