I found a bug in which all audio within factorio stops working until a restart the game.
I have an UGREEN 2 port USB KVM that I use to switch between two computers and all usb devices go into it. My Audio comes out of an USB amp/dac combo that is connected to the KVM so the audio device will disconnect when switching computers.
Whenever I alt tab and then switch to the other computer and then back to the computer I have factorio on this will happen. It only started to happen on space age. I also play unmodded
[2.0.15] Audio stops working until restart game
Re: [2.0.15] Audio stops working until restart game
Hello,
Is your USB amp/dac set as the default audio output device?
I've just tested it with my USB dac and if it's set as the default device the audio in Factorio will recover once it's plugged back in. But not when it's not the default device.
Factorio doesn't monitor if audio devices are (dis)connected while the game runs, we leave that to the audio middleware we're using (SDL).
You should be able to recover the audio by going to the Sound settings and changing the preferred audio device. This will cause a re-initialization of the audio system. Not really a solution but you don't need to restart the whole game.
