Tested version: 2.0.15 (build 80108 expansion, mac-arm64, standalone), observed in previous 2.0.x releases as well
Tested using default settings & keybindings (deleted config.ini).
Behaviour observed for most regular items:
- Press "e" to open inventory/crafting interface
- Hover over an item like Automation Science Pack
- Press "q" to pick an item ghost in your cursor
- Click on e.g. a constant combinator while holding the ghost
- Constant combinator UI pops up while you keep the ghost in your hand (allowing to e.g. add the item's signal to the combinator)
Behaviour observed for usable/throwable items:
- Repeat the steps above, but instead choosing e.g. Bioflux
- Clicking on the constant combinator does nothing
Items for which this behaviour has been observed:
- Jellynut & jelly
- Yumako & yumako mash
- Bioflux
- Fish
- Grenades
- Cliff explosives
- Repair packs
At first I thought this behaviour was specific to spoilable items. It's most easily observed while dealing with Gleba, where I used combinator logic a lot to e.g. avoid requesting spoilable items while other non-spoilable ingredients were not satisfied - so it's worth noting that the items for which this behaviour was NOT observed are:
- Nutrients
- Pentapod eggs
- Biter eggs
Things that doesn't seem to be a factor:
- Instead of using the crafting interface, the item ghost can be picked from almost anywhere else (e.g. hotbar, Factoriopedia, another combinator/machine)
- Consistent between "in person" and remote view
- The type of the machine doesn't seem to matter (tested on: assemblers/crafters, inserters, combinators)
