Spoiled priority for request chests

Post by kitters »

TL;DR
Give request chests ability to have spoiled priority like inserters

Why?
Seems like this function is just forgotten, it feels natural. If inserter can pick up the most fresh/spoiled item from storage chest, bot should be able to do this too.

it seem unclear to me, it could be that you are requesting bots to pick the freshest item in a specific chest, or the request is meant to task bots to pick the freshest item in the logistic network.

You can (sort of) achieve this by using Inserters with “freshest first” to load only the Requested amount into a Passive Provider chest; and Limit that chest to only accept 1 Stack of materials so that they don’t get an opportunity to go stale. If you need more throughput then place another Provider chest close to where the resource is needed (or else it will spoil in-flight anyway).

Anything not loaded into a Chest can be left on Belts, where it will spoil on its way to the incinerators anyway.
