Tank Cannon Range display

I often forget how far my tank can shoot its shells.

I also sometimes zoom in and out during combat, which doesn't makes this easier to remember.

Also, it will always shoot in the direction of the cursor, no matter if it can actually hit what I'm aiming at (which is good). If something is in the way, the shell hits that instead, that's understandable.

But the green Crosshair Circle around enemy entities is always green, no matter the distance to the tank.

Ideally, I'd like to have a dotted circle visible for the range of the cannon. It could vanish when my cursor is inside it.
Additionally or alternatively, I'd like to have the enemy crosshair be orange or red if I point to something outside the range of the cannon.

Oh yes, and also add a radar-like 'sweep' showing where the turret is pointing (since as you know, it's quite slow to readjust itself !)

These could optionally be unlocked by research, maybe even separately. (Like tank logistics are.)

Uh, yes, of course, I knew that! /s

Maybe the dotted line should just be visible in that cone / circle arc, which moves with the turret.
Or like the Remote view "Turret Range" for Flamethrowers it's just a single colored cone

But I fear it's not visible enough. It needs to be better, since at night or in the wilderness with the natives it's harder to see. The Crosshair Circle is also often not as visible since it is drawn underneath biters or nests.

That's different, the turret (the thing on top that rotates) of those turrets can't actually rotate 360°, which is what this area indicates. Tank's can.

And for instant (or almost instant) retargeting turrets, they shouldn't show the "radar line scan" anyway, it would be useless clutter.

However, it might be also nice, if there are ever any other turrets that are slow to turn (like modded or some Space Age ones ?), that they would get that functionality too.

And for selected turrets, an outline (with or without current top-turret direction) would be better :

I agree, it would be great to be able to display weapon ranges and their cones real time

Right, so, that «scanner sweep» might need to have a thickness that corresponds to the shell's hitbox ?
Not sure how to best represent the effect of explosive shells without giving to the player what might be way too much information about the expected explosion radius and especially location (after piercing, since IIRC it only explodes after having pierced enough) ?
I guess there's some balance between too frustrating and too easy for the player ? (Also why I suggested tech unlocks for some of these features.)

[2.0.20] Tank targeting Crosshair color incorrect

I find this a issue to. The green Crosshair Circle should not be green when it is outside the range of the shell. & maybe should be yellow when the turret is turning to it.
