Circuit Wire Rendering on Poles

Post by rvb30 »

TL;DR
Rendering of the coloured circuit wires on powerpoles should be more controllable

[N.B.] This was previously reported as a bug here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=114906, I don't know how to move/merge it so am recreating it as a feature request.
What ?
There should be a way to customise how coloured circuit wires on powerpoles are rendered, so that they don't cross over.

Creating a combinator and wiring it to a line of poles above crosses the wires:

What it should do is have the wires uncrossed:

(Sorry for the incredibly cursed screenshot, the only way to generate the effect I wanted was to do it the other way round and flip it in photoshop)

Proposed solution 1: Make it predictable in some way, even if hideously complicated so that I can get my builds looking nice eventually
Proposed solution 2: Allow me to 'rotate' an electric pole to change the orientation of the coloured wires. Power wire always go to the center, red and green are opposite, and the rotate control alters which of the 8 cardinal directions red/green in.
Proposed solution 3: Add mod support to let me create a mod to do one of these instead
Why ?
1. Would make building and debugging circuits easier
2. It would allow factories with lots of circuit wires to be more aesthetically pleasing
3. It would reduce visual clutter
