Render in native screen resolution

Does render-in-native-resolution=false do anything? I was hoping to get to choose a rendering resolution but nope.
I have mods! I guess!

Split from Documentation Improvement Requests thread because it's not a modding topic. This is a graphics option that is only available in the GUI on Mac OS, and its tooltip says:
On high-DPI screens (for example, Apple Retina), rendering in the native resolution will produce a higher quality image but may be very demanding on performance.
