When hovering over a signal or placing a signal show the train outlines after the signal the same way they are shown before the signal. Sorry, that's all to say about the idea. Why ?
When placing a full signal after a rail crossing the important part is that a train must be able to fit between this signal and the next. Otherwise the end of the train would reach into the rail crossing a cause problems. This means one has to first place a chain signal, then find the next signal, hover over it, count the trains back towards the rail crossing and only if a train fits between the two signals can one replace the chain signal with a full signal. (Alternatively one can place a full signal and replace it with a chain signal if a train doesn't fit. Same problem of having to go back and forth). If the game would show the train outlines after the signal one could see whether the train will fit before placing the signal in the first place.
