[boskid][1.1.65] Lag spike when using copy/upgrade/destruction planner from far away when in map view

Post by Gorfiend7 »

Problem: Copying something far away when in map view causes a temporary freeze.

Expected: No freeze when copying.

Here's a screenshot just after copying a rail - note the max frame/Update times (>1000):

It only happens in map view - zooming in to normal view and doing the same thing has no issue:

It also depends where on the map the action is performed. Here's the result of doing the same thing in a different location - notice max frame/Update times around 80:

For reference, here's an overview image:

The first two screenshots are from the bottom-right corner of the solar field, the third from the bottom-left.

Some testing looks like the lag spike is based on distance to the player, and possibly the number of entities in between having some influence. How much is copied doesn't matter - it can even be empty and cause the same lag spike. Copy/blueprint/upgrade/destruction planners all behave the same. Tested with a couple other large maps on a different computer with similar results.
