Save Game Corruption

I was emailed and told to post here.

I manually made a save and tried to shut the game down. The game didn't want to quit so I forced the computer to reboot. Somehow, the manual save and all autosaves are now corrupt. I have no valid save files to fall back to as all four have been overwritten. I'm running some mods, such as Krastorio. I couldn't find any useful help on Google besides people saying that you guys can some times recover the save.

Shouldn't the game check to make sure the save was valid? Like, the game knows it is wrong when I look at it in the menu but apparently the game was just writing trash to all my autosaves for hours. Everything was playing normal and saving fine from my view. I don't see any way I could have possibly avoided this.
