It is frustrating when somewhere spawner appears, and like nothing 20 biters immediately pop out and go attacking and endless stream of them keeps flowing out. Just make the spawner pop out bunch of eggs, that'll sit by it and hatch in a minute or so (20 secs if there is a fight around?), so that player can decide to shoot or run before danger comes.
The idea is, when player overcomes defenders, then he gets a few seconds to attack buildings undisturbed. Not playing snake running with endless stream of idiots behind his back trying to scratch the spawner.

Not to mention that default armours are useles, and even fully pimped power armor with shield is nothing when you try to attack their base. Big biters tear you to shreads in milliseconds.
So, certainly, spawn rate should be limited in some way...
