[0.11.22] Recurring desync issues in modded multiplayer

Post by Berserker55 »

Hello, a friend and me play modded multiplayer factorio. For some long stretches of time all works perfectly, othertime we get stuck in desync loops or get every-once-in a while desyncs. We have clocked over 15 hours, but desync issues seem to increase as time goes on, we're now at a point of barely playable.
We both run Factorio 64 Bit 0.11.22; one on ubuntu, one on windows 7

I have 404 MB of desync reports. Here a recent one:

Also, how to detect which mod might be causing a desync?

Additionally, here the mods:

Slightly outdated; Cyberchests is older than we use in there, I believe.
Mod"pack" only for debugging purposes, I do not have permissions to release these mods as an official pack, nor do I own any content.

Desyncs at this stage of development would most likely be caused by scripts, so you can probably rule out my mods, because I don't use scripts. I know for a fact that some of the mods in that list do use scripts. It's likely just one, or two from that whole list that are causing issues.
Another possibillity would be related to different versions of factorio (Linux vs Windows versions), though those bugs are supposed to have been ironed out already.

The only real way to track down the issue at the moment with the information you've provided is if the devs were to play your game, with the same setup, a savegame would significantly speed up the bug finding progress.
narrowing down the cause (playing with only a couple of mods at a time, instead of that whole mod pack) would also help track it down.

I did include more data, as an edit, but messed that edit up a bit. Should be fixed now.
Savegame currently resides on my friend's machine, but I should get a hold of that soon.

Found one definite trigger; placing tanks (the drivable kind) results in a desync within 3 seconds. And results in a desync loop.
Additionally, loading a world with tanks in, also desync loops. Cars and trains work though.

Dytech Laser Tank has the same problem.

Similarly, using CTRL-clicks with any inventory (chests, trains, cars) can randomly cause a desync - not always. But that doesn't create a loop.

Also, here's the savegame:

I have found that if you or your friends are using either the 32 or 64 bit versions you might have Desync problems I have found this to be the case My friend was running the 64 bit version and I was running the 32 bit and we kept getting the Desnc problem I have duplicated the problem using two computers running the 32 and 64 bit versions and it desynced not once but every time during muti-play. the best thing I can tell you is to see if you or your friend are running the 32 or 64 bit versions and change it to one or the other by downloading the appropriate one. Hope this helps

We found that the main problem was Equalizer Chests. We still get desyncs from tanks and can't pin that down though, but the every so often random desyncs are gone since equalizer chests is gone.

As we fixed and change huge amount of things since 0.11 Let me move this bug to won't fix, as there is very big chance it is not relevant anymore.
