game crashes when attempting manual save

Windows 8.

Autosaves have been working fine, and I can load from them no problem, but the game crashes when I click the save game button in the menu. The button depresses, but the game becomes unresponsive and I have to force the task to end.

I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that my C:\Users folder is actually a directory link to another hard drive (D:), and though Factorio itself is on different drive (E:), the EXE installation puts its saves in App Data. I was able to solve the problem by uninstalling, downloading the ZIP installation, and unpacking to the directory on E: where I want the game. This keeps the saves in the same place as the game, and that seems to fix the issue.
