Simply put, I want to be able to put an assembler, furnace, or other such device directly into the logistics network. That way I won't have to use request chests, inserters, and provider chests every time I want to make something. They don't have to be fast or cheap, just as long as I have them as an option.
Code-wise it would be easy enough to do. Just have the inventories of the internal requester chest automatically go into the machine's if possible, and visa-versa for the providers. Which requester you put the item in will determine if the product will go into the passive or active chest, and fuel will always be stored in the storage chest.
There could also be logistics belts which act exactly like belts, only any item on top of them is added to the network and bots can go ahead and pick them right off the line. I know that construction bots have capability for picking up items through a deconstruction planner, so it's not completely far-fetched.

I like this idea, though it may be difficult to implement.
