[0.11.15+] [kovarex] Choppy slowdown

Be sure to watch it fully to see what's going wrong. The slowdown when moussing over the roboports is expected but it becomes choppy after moussing off the roboports. It's repeatable every time and only subsides when I restart the game.

Steps I do to reproduce it:
  • Load the game with standard screen size (do not resize)
  • Load the save game
  • Zoom out fully
  • Mouse over the roboport to the left for 5 seconds
  • Mouse off the roboport back to the player
At this point the choppiness happens every time for me.

Other information:
  • 64 bit Factorio
  • Windows 7 x64 Pro
  • i7-3930k processor
  • 32GB of RAM
  • GTX 970 4 GB video card
  • 3 screens: left: 1920x1080, center: 2560x1600, right: 1920x1080
  • Playing on the center screen primary (default game window size for these tests)
  • If I zoom in enough the choppiness stops
  • If I physically move to another area of the game the choppiness stops
  • If I move back to the same area the choppiness resumes
  • Issue persists between save/loads, only goes away after fully restarting Factorio

This is probably related to the limitation of the graphics card and 512k of sprites drawn. I can't reproduce it myself. Anyway, this will be solved once we do the triangulation drawing.

Hmm, weird. Any ETA on the triangulation drawing? If it's going to be a while, what about an option to not draw roboport connections on mouse-over in the graphics as an intermediate fix?

As it is now, unfortunately it makes my save unplayable :\ any time I mistakenly mouse over a roboport I have to restart the game. As you can imagine with my save it's pretty hard to *not* mouse over one :)

Once the roboport creation/removal is optimised so it doesn't take ages for big networks. So we can test the speed.
