As of right now, this is very erratic to me and does not really correspond to any specific key, and is not easily reproduced.
This exclusively happens in Factorio and is not system wide. (no extra keystrokes on other programs or such. Keyboard is working fine)
I previously had my steam install downgraded to 2.0 to play the Nullius modpack, where this also occurred.
I acknowledge that this situation may be mod related, but I'd be really surprised if a mod would cause this behaviour.
Short testing in a pure vanilla save [of version 2.1.17] seems to be unaffected, though it's hard to say with the erratic-ness.
What did you do?
Use any search bar of the game. I am typing normally.
What happened?
Several repeated characters appear without the corresponding real input.
What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
I expect my keystrokes to not randomly create more characters than physically inputted.
Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
It does not happen in a reproducible way, and I currently cannot figure out the cause of this problem.
EDIT 1: It seems like there is a small but noticable delay before the extra characters appear.
