Trains (and possibly other rail-based vehicle added by mods) should be allowed to set to different configurations to ground-based vehicles (cars, tanks, etc.), e.g. setting train control mode to steering and ground-based vehicles mode to heading.Why?
2.0.46 optimized vehicle control, allowing vehicles control mode to be set to heading mode in addition to previous steering mode. The change came very handy, until I found that the control mode also applies to trains. When have the control mode set to heading, trains are also affected by the configuration, but since trains are rail based vehicles, they behave totally different to other ground-based vehicles, especially their direction: ground-based vehicles can turn as players wish, but trains' headings are totally dependent on the rails they are on. Thus while driving a train, I'd prefer using steering mode over heading mode, as I don't need to take rail orientation into consideration.However, to achieve this, I need to check (and often change) game setting every time driving a different vehicle, which causes great inconvenience. I hope the control mode of trains can be set to a different mode to most ground-based free-moving vehicles.
